Fittting tribute for Bellshill rocker

FORMER colleagues of a popular Bellshill musician who died towards the end of last year got together recently to pay him a fitting tribute at a special benefit night for his family.

William 'Rock' McAlonan died in December but his memory lived on at the Lithuanian Social Club with the tribute night on what would have been his 66th birthday.

The event, which raised 1,115, was organised by Billy Morrice, a long-time friend and music scene colleague of William, who left a widow, Lillian, four children and six grandchildren.

Billy and Lillian said they also wanted to thank all those who donated raffle prizes and everyone else who supported or helped to organise the night.

Billy added: "Willie will be sadly missed by all his friends and family."
