THE UK's Queen of Soul Mica Paris is probably better known nowadays for her string of appearances on TV but the singing sensation has returned to her first love — music.
And now she is set to remind audiences why they first fell in love with her when she plays Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday, October 2.

Having just released her latest effort, which is aptly titled Born Again, Mica is in good spirits as she speaks to the Times & Speaker.

"I simply did the new record because I got asked to do it. I have been doing a lot of TV over the last few years because no one asked me to make music, so when the chance came up, I jumped at it," Mica explains.

Born Again saw her work with legendary hit-maker Brian Rawling, with James Morrison even writing the lead single Baby Come Back Now.

Mica said: "It's been a great experience doing this album. James is a very talented guy and it was a pleasure to work with him.

"My daughters are also excited about the album especially the youngest Russia. My oldest daughter Monet loves The Hardest Thing of the album."

As well as appearances on CelebAir and What Not to Wear, Mica has written books and has also just launched a plus-size fashion line with Simply Be.

She said: "I am so proud of the fashion line as I am a real girls' girl and I believe women should celebrate their size and embrace what they have.

"I love being a women and I get angry at the unhealthy images that are portrayed in the media."

Tickets for the concert are £18 (£16 under 25s/ppl) and for more information call 01698 302 991.
