A MOTHERWELL rocker is on the cusp of securing a single deal with a London based record company who have been credited for helping to launch the careers of Coldplay and Keane.

JEYE T, real name John Tierney, recently impressed a boss at independent label Fierce Panda Records during a showcase at London's Club Fandango and now the 30-year-old is in discussions with the firm over releasing a single this year.

Known for launching the careers of big Indie acts, a single release with Fierce Panda Records is a step in the right direction for JEYE T.

He said: "I have been in talks since the showcase in December and they are definitely interested.

"If anything was to go ahead, I would want to do something fresh and release a new single."

JEYE T has been tipped to hit the top by Scottish music mogul Alan McGee, who is probably best known for discovering Oasis.

John said: "I am in still in touch with Alan although he is officially retired. He still listens to my demos and gives his opinion, he is a big influence if I am honest."
